Where can a complete and detailed dvd or book of shotokan karate katas (basic & advanced) be found/purchased?

I had my share of shotokan kata trainings but unfortunately i forgot all of them after a long 4 years of working. I need to get back in shape and hone my reflexes for better life and health.

Karate-do Kyohan by Master Funakoshi is the “bible” of shotokan and has the diagrams of all the katas.

You can go to any Martial Arts store or look in most Black Belt magazines which will give you Nakamura’s Katas of Shotokan, or Ken Funakoshi.

The best place is a JKA School or traditional Shotokan Dojo
Books and tapes are a poor way to learn only because there is no one with an expert eye to watch your mistakes and correct you or teach you the Bunkai (Application) of the form

There are still GREAT Senseis alive for you to study with like Nishiyama, Harada, Kanazawa, Ohshima, Kawanabe, etc

Good luck and never give up.
It is a passion and way of life. The Bushido (Way of the warrior)

The series “Best Karate” has all of the Shotokan Katas with pictures. The Bunki applications may not be the best but they are there.

Try Centuryfitness.com. Or do a yahoo search under martial arts supplies.
